PhD project
Working title: Exploring the neutrino detection capabilities of the Pierre Auger Observatory with Phase II hardware
My PhD Project focuses on the possibility of observing astrophysical neutrinos using the detectors of the Pierre Auger Observatory, following the AugerPrime upgrade and the beginning of Phase II.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND
programme under grant agreement no. 101261809 (KSETA Europe)
Education
-
Master's Degree in Physics - Università degli Studi di Milano
[2023 - 2026]
Thesis: Testing hadronic interaction models with the multi-hybrid measurements of Phase II of the Pierre Auger Observatory
Final grade: 110/110 Cum Laude
During my master’s degree I specialized in particle and astroparticle physics, but I also took classes in astrophysics, computer science and theoretical physics. I also volunteered for various outreach activities, such as Pierre Auger Masterclasses and the INFN Game project.
-
Erasmus+ Traineeship - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
[2025]
During my Erasmus+ Traineeship in Karlsruhe, I had the opportunity to work on my master's thesis with the Auger group at the Institute of Astroparticle Physics.
My thesis project was focused on the analysis of extensive air shower data recorded by the Pierre Auger Observatory, with the scope of better understanding the discrepancies between the observed muon content in measured hadronic showers and the theoretical predictions. During my stay, I also took part in outreach activities, such as lectures for high-school students and masterclasses.
-
Bachelor's Degree in Physics - Università degli Studi di Milano
[2019 - 2023]
Thesis: A geometrical approach to the discrimination of non-physical events recorded by the Pierre Auger Observatory
Final grade: 110/110
My bachelor's thesis project focuses on the data acquisition system of the Pierre Auger Observatory, and proposes an optimization for the existing hierarchy of triggers.
